Scams are common and somewhat ubiquitous on the Internet. While some of these 'free offer' scams are quickly found by authorities, often times they open back up under a different business name within hours of being shut down.
Let's get more familiar with the anatomy of the 'free trial' scam. Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. First, you receive an enticing offer to try a new product in which all you have to pay for is the shipping and handling (a nominal cost). During sign up, you are presented with other offers such as paid magazine subscriptions, a paid membership to the site (which should be your first warning), free upgraded products and/or almost anything else under the sun.Write comment (0 Comments)
Most of the following was passed along to me by Joel Tragash with the suggestion that I put it on the website so here it is...
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
It only takes a minute to read this.
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.Write comment (0 Comments)
Below is a screen capture of a very real looking email from Amazon. Since I use Amazon a lot it's natural for me to receive these Ship notices and in this case I knew I didn't order a new PC so my immediate thought was that someone had gotten into my account and ordered a PC for themselves. However, this is a somewhat sophisticated scam!
These jokers are getting more and more tricky all the time.
In this case it appeared that a legitimate Amazon order had been placed in my account that I did not place. My immediate reaction was to click on the “Order Details” button but thankfully I never use links sent in the email – instead I use the browser directly to login to my account where I can check recent orders. Of course there was no such order.
If you look at the link that shows up when you hover over the Order details button you can easily see that it has nothing to do with Amazon but takes you to some other site where who knows what would happen if clicked...
Please be careful!

This is important information if you are one of the residents at The Fells that has the Rinnai Tankless water heater.
This notice also applies to your furnace vent, dryer vent, and your furnace condensation pump.
It is critical that you check the combination inlet and vent pipe from your Rinnnai Tankless water heater and make sure it is not blocked by the drifting snow. Any blockage of this vent will cause the heater to malfunction. If you don't have hot water and you have the Rinnnai Tankless heater this is the most likely cause.Write comment (0 Comments)
Did you know that under New Hampshire law you don't have to purchase your electricity from Eversource? Well you don't!
In fact, you can choose to purchase your electricity from any of a number of Competitive Energy Power Suppliers (CEPs) licensed to operate here in New Hampshire.Write comment (0 Comments)
At the Fells Condo Association Information Meeting held on June 15th the question of weed prevention in the mulched, or planted areas was raised. We have been using a weed preventative product called Preen and have had good results. Preen can be spread in your mulched areas (or other areas where you want to inhibit weed growth) up to the time Forsythias bloom, and it will work most of the growing season. Any later application, I believe, is not very effective.
You can read more about Preen here.
